11 days to go!

Yes, it really is 11 days until we fly to Tanzania! Preparations have begun in earnest…We have had all our jabs, got our malarials, semi-packed and now we are doing many admin jobs, buying last minute essentials, saying goodbyes and keeping up with all our wonderful supporters. It’s a busy time with lots to think about (and try not to forget!). However, we are really looking forward to being in Tanzania. We are devouring our newly bought Rough Guide with much interest! We are particularly looking forward to some sunshine (after the greyness of the UK this past month!) but it’s been an average temperature of 30 degrees celsius in Dar es Salaam recently with a low of only 28 degrees – phew, that’s sticky! That will be one of the many big changes in Tanzania.

We have had a filled yet relaxing time since we left the Wycliffe Centre in December. There are a few photos uploaded for you to see what the festive season has held for us! Firstly, we had a few days in the Lake District with Wycliffe friends winding down after the very hectic end to the course. After celebrating Matt’s sister Hannah’s 21st birthday we then went to Liz’s parents for a family Christmas with the Tyler grandparents. We had a very chilled time in the wilds of Devon after which we travelled up to Faringdon for more festive fun over New Year. This included seeing Lord of the Rings at the theatre and a family picture. Now we are in Sheffield with a social calendar full of hellos and goodbyes. If you are a Sheffield person and haven’t seen us yet, don’t panic! Liz is having girly drinks at Bungalows and Bears, Division Street from 8pm on Thursday 10th and Matt is having similar yet more manly drinks at the Devonshire Cat, same time, same day. You’re welcome to drop into the respective groupings! We will also be at St Thomas’ Philadelphia morning gathering on Sunday 13th before we head south again. We look forward to catching up with more friends in the next few days.
