It has happened! After months of preparation, planning and packing we have left Sheffield and are just about to start the Wycliffe training course. On Monday (6th August) we begin the ‘European Training Programme’ at Wycliffe UK’s HQ in Buckinghamshire near High Wycombe. There we are taking 3 courses that will last until mid-December 07. We will be living on site and so if you are in the area please let us know… we’d love to see you! We will write more about our initial impressions when we have arrived and settled.
Some other BIG news is that we have decided where we will be heading for our first assignment - it’s Tanzania! All being well (that they want us amongst other things!) we should be heading out there in early 2008. Our assignment will be based in Mbeya, a fairly large town in the south-west of the country near to the border with Zambia and Malawi. We are really excited about the opportunities in that area. The office works with 10 languages encompassing over 3 million people and they have already started great work with literacy! We’ll let you know some more about the assignment when we know it.
To help put this in context we’ve annotated a map so you can see where we are going to be over the next year – just click here. If you click on the blue markers on the left-hand-side of the map you’ll be taken to that location and see some more info. We hope this helps give you some context to our movements! Also if you’re interested in what the Mbeya area might be like you can read some info from the Rough Guide here. Sounds nice!
Keep in touch.

I work at Wycliffe UK. Some missionaries from our church in High Wycombe are back from Tanzania at the moment. Do you want me to put you in touch with them. They are with Emmanuel International.
You can guess my Wycliffe email address from my name!
